During the days of the Festival the town on the west coast of Norway offers you jazz-and art-exhibitions, a sailing competition and jazz combined with trips to the neighbouring small islands, jazz in the "Seawarehouses", one of the largest street parades there is with tap dancers leading 150 musicians from various parts of the world - in addition to about 180 jazz concerts/events at clubs and concert halls with some 350 musicians taking part.

On our closing day 50 000 people meet to enjoy the festival.

An international festival

There are opportunities throughout the four days of the Festival. In addition to the Norwegian bands and musicians we have jazz personalities and bands from various European countries and of course the USA.

Last year we had bands from Australia, Sweden, Denmark, Irland, Italy, New Zealand, Germany, Holland, France, England and the USA amongst other.

In addition to all the outstanding Norwegian artists visiting us we have had the pleasure of presenting jazz artists such as Svend Asmussen, Arne Domnerus, Bengt Hallberg, Nicholas Payton, Doc Cheatham, Lillian Boutte, Dee Dee Brigdewater, Etta Jones, Houston Person, Nnenna Freelon, Russel Malone, Ray Anderson,Scott Hamilton, Bucky and John Pizzarelli, Karin Krogh, Al Jarreau, Diane Krall, Mose Allison, Sammy Rimington, Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball, The Manhattan Transfer, Chris Barber,Herbie Mann, Joey DeFrancesco, TOTO to mention a few.

The Sildajazz is already an established event on the Scandinavian Jazz Calender and for 2008 dates are 6th August till 10th August. The 2008 Festival is at planning stage and is becoming the biggest and most promising ever.
